- Seems the bootP function of the winsock software for SLIP isn't paying
- attention to the toastmaster, er, postmaster.
-
- If I log in, get my {temp} IP, enter it into the set up and then quit
- TCPMAN/WINSOCK {but keep the modem connection up}, then restart it
- it works fine... but bootP right off the bad = nothing.
-
- Is there a difference in PPP bootP and SLIP bootP? I know that ETHERPPP
- has built in gateway/router addresses which override whatever our
- postmaster says thay are.... but doesn't seem the portmaster or the SLIP
- software liks bootP w/ SLIP.

- I have also tried both Cello and Mosaic clients under windows
- but find both hard to use. I am having great difficulty making
- connections. I click on verious pointers, the software rides the
- internet wires and than my system freezes. This happens under both
- WWW clients. I think your users will have to be helped with this

- Subject: Cost accounting system for Winsock SLIP users
-
- ** SLIPdb AVAILABLE SOON **
-
- SLIPdb is a cost-accounting system for Winsock users who connect using d
- ial-up SLIP. SLIPdb builds a database of your connect and disconnect times and
- calculates the cost of each call based on a per-minute rate. A fixed flat
- charge rate is supported as we
-
- It can be used with Trumpet Winsock or any MS Windows phone dialer that can
- execute a Windows program from the dialing script.
-
- Features include: on-screen timer showing elapsed connect time and cost so
- far, summary screen at end of each call, printed report, and more.
-
- SLIPdb is shareware.
-
- - - - - - - - - - -
-
- And now a question for readers of this group: Anyone interested in the a
- bove? It's been in use for two months in New Brunswick where the high cost of
- internet access means we need to keep a very close eye on costs, but is there
- anyone else who'd like to use it? Please e-mail webberd@nbnet.nb.ca

- What do you mean by emulator? Do you want your windows to look like on X, or
- do you want to see X-Applications (running on another machine) on your screen?
-
- If the later are you willing to pay for it? I haven't seen a Public
- Domain Server so far.
-
- We bought one, and it's working great with FTP's PC/TCP Software. There are many products around, with different functionality and prizing.
